Week 8 App Sketches/Concepts

Initial Sketches of Ideas

I thought of a few ideas but wasn't sure how to make it cohesive.

Ideas in phone prototype

In class we discussed how:
-We could make the poster more interactive?
-App more cohesive with posters? (6 different functions in relation to the 6 different posters)

-An issue that came up was promotion of the app and how it would get out?
-I was thinking of maybe the poster suggesting the app but maybe that wouldn't be enough?
-A suggestion was social media since we do get recommended through friends nowadays and most people in our generation are on Facebook for social reasons or academic reasons.

For Homework I decided to focus more on two aspects of the App (caffeine tracker and sleep mode)
-I think maybe having 6 functions may be too much and the app could focus more on one thing.
-I thought of also having a printed QR code that would go on the coffee cups around campus---> this could be for maybe scanning in the caffeine amounts instead of relying the user to input it in.

-The sleep mode just helps with whether the person wants to take a nap, It gives a appropriate time frame and then wakes the person up. This is based around seeing some students sleep in the library, so they can take a nap that won't hinder their concentration or performance during the day.
-The idea is that they would put the phone in their pocket before they sleep and it vibrates after the ideal time for a nap.

User Journey:

Idea of App: An App for when they are at school or uni:

Awake mode (caffeine tracker):
-They see the interactive posters (maybe around campus) and learn more about sleep
-Then find out about app and decide to try it out? (maybe through poster or Facebook?)
-When they buy coffee there is a QR code that they can scan to enter in caffeine intake or they can enter it in themselves.

Sleep mode (Alarm for sleep and naps):
-The Sleep mode is for when they want to sleep or have a nap.
-For a nap they just set the alarm for a nap and put it in their pocket.
-After the nap time is up, it'll vibrate and alert the user to get up. Preventing oversleeping.

App Sketches

-Over the weekend I'll probably try to refine these further (simplify or add needed stuff) and try to put it up in invision to test.
-Other things we need to consider are maybe the user journey (getting our user look at our posters or use the App)

-I guess you'll probably be working on the posters -- I think you should just go ahead with what you think would work. ---maybe think of more ways to make it interactive or ways to get people to look at it or interact with it.
